Boundaries 101

Boundaries sound simple until we have to set them.

Many of us struggle to say what we need, hold a limit, or say “no” without guilt. Whether with our children, family members, coworkers, or other people in our lives, setting limits is a skill that must be learned and practiced.

In Setting Limits, Michelle Gambs teaches a simple and humane three-step process for creating boundaries with both firmness and kindness. Limits are not about controlling others. They are about protecting ourselves, making clear choices, and helping children feel safe through consistency and guidance.

This course helps parents and caregivers understand what limits are, why children need them, and why adults often have such a difficult time setting them. When limits are communicated clearly and respectfully, they can reduce power struggles, create more cooperation, and help everyone feel more grounded.

Michelle also explores the connection between boundaries, self-respect, and self-esteem. Knowing what you want, stating it, and saying “no” without guilt are all part of building healthier relationships.

Through teaching and role-play examples, you’ll see how a small shift in language can make boundaries feel less harsh, less confusing, and much more effective.

In this course, you’ll learn how to:

Understand what boundaries are and why they matter

Recognize why children feel safer when limits are clear

Set limits without guilt, over-explaining, or anger

Use a simple three-step process for boundary setting

Help children feel heard while still holding the limit

Offer choices without giving away your authority

Reduce power struggles and fighting through clearer limits

Practice being firm and kind at the same time

This course includes a video lesson and a PDF course curriculum outlining the key concepts, tools, and takeaways.
