Handling Children's Feelings

Emotional regulation is talked about everywhere right now, and what does it actually look like in real life with children?

Children have big feelings. So do adults. Feelings themselves are not wrong, bad, or something to fix. They are information and energy moving through the body. What matters is how we respond to those feelings and how we help children learn to move through them safely.

In Handling Children’s Feelings, Michelle Gambs helps parents and caregivers understand children's emotional world while also examining their own. Many of us were never taught how to identify, express, or regulate our emotions, which can make it difficult to guide children in doing so.

This course explores the common ways adults unintentionally shut children down emotionally and what to do instead. Through practical teaching and role-play examples, Michelle gives you the language and tools to respond with more awareness, connection, and confidence.

You’ll learn how to encourage feelings to surface without letting behavior become unsafe or disrespectful. The goal is not to stop emotions, but to help children understand them, express them, and move through them in healthier ways.

In this course, you’ll learn how to:

Understand feelings as normal, natural, and neither right nor wrong

Recognize common “feeling stoppers” that can shut children down

Learn what to say instead when your child is upset, angry, sad, or overwhelmed

Support emotional regulation without dismissing or minimizing feelings

Separate the feeling from the behavior that follows

Build emotional intelligence in both children and adults

Gain cooperation without turning feelings into a battle

This course includes a video lesson and a PDF course curriculum outlining the key concepts, tools, and takeaways.
